What is Creative Bible Journaling?

Creative Bible journaling is essentially a way of connecting with God and scripture through the work of art and journaling. Don't be mistaken, the end result is not about self-gratification from the art but about the focus of mind and spirit while reading the word.

In my opinion, the artwork creates a focus that allows me to connect on a deeper level and produce beautiful artwork in the process. It's like a beautiful visual reflection of God's word. I started Bible journaling a little while ago and although, I'm still considered a newbie at the creative aspect, I really enjoy it.

The only supplies needed to begin Bible journaling is a pen or pencil and a Bible. When you are ready to begin creative journaling, there are many supplies that can assist you on your journey.

I wanted to share not only the supplies I currently use but also journaling supplies that have some truly amazing reviews.

The Inspire Bible is absolutely beautiful.  I spent almost two weeks deciding on the perfect creative journaling Bible before deciding to purchase this one. It comes in its own vintage floral case and has a nice leather-like cover with lots of art and scriptural graphics for creative coloring. The margins are extra wide for journaling and this Bible has a large font that is super easy to read. You HAVE to see it to appreciate its beauty.

I just ordered this interactive journal from author Gayla Irwin and I can't wait to try it out. It has nothing but great reviews. From its product description and preview pages, I can see how the creator uses images and activities to promote spiritual growth and connection.

If you're like me and struggle with where to begin, this may be just the journal for you.

My favorite highlighters are these from AccuGel. They are perfect for important scriptures, words, and/or passages and it even comes with a free Bible study plan.

These highlighters don't bleed, drag or smear.

If you feel the need for a little more color, this mega pack of 60 gel-pens may be just the thing.

With an Amazon rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars, users say the colors are vibrant, rich, no-bleed, and come in a reusable case.

These PIGMA MICRON pens were the very first colored pens I bought for my journaling.

I found that the fine print was perfect for getting into small areas of art and excellent for underlining important scriptures. Comes with a bible study color code, but you could coordinate the colors to your liking to identify specific people, places or even certain words that appear throught the scripture. No-bleed but be careful when pressing onto paper so that you don't damage the tip.
