If you know me personally, then you know I love-love-love mascara! I am constantly buying new mascara….. forever in search of the longest, most voluminous, full, and separated pair of eyelashes. Oh, and did I mention it has to be black? Well…it absolutely HAS to be black.
So this week I was happy to try Mary Kay’s new Lash Intensity Mascara and decided to tell you all about it. First of all, you should be aware that I was not provided with any form of payment or free product for doing this review and all opinions are my own. Secondly, I’ve previously tried false strip/individual lashes and while they were beautiful, I still wanted to find a lower cost and less adhesive form of eyelash enhancement. Okay, disclaimer out of the way so on with the review.
- Design: Mary Kay’s Lash Intensity Mascara comes in a little pink and black box. The actual mascara is in a black container. I might add that the unique shape of this mascara made it super easy to grip and it felt very secure in my hand. FYI, this is a very important feature. Let’s just say this chick (me) has dropped her mascara wand onto her face more than once…… yeah yeah, don’t act like it’s just me. The brush has two levels of bristles. The short bristles are designed to fatten up the lashes and the longer ones ensure that the lashes are separated and lengthened.
- Consistency: The mascara went on smooth and did not leave my lashes dry. The color was very black (a BIG plus in my book) and seemed to stay exactly where I put it. While using some other well-known brands, the mascara seemed to run onto my lids before it ever had a chance to dry. Thumbs up!
- Technique: I ended up using a total of three coats. This is not unusual for me, as I am generally a two coat type of chick anyway. I found that gripping the base of the lashes and slowly rotating the brush through to the tips gave me the best results. Third round was a charm. Voila! Sexy 😉
- How it works: So you’re probably wondering how this mascara creates such dramatic lash enhancements. Well here’s my breakdown. There is a “reserve” built into the mascara wand which actually “picks up” extra mascara formula during the application process. So each time another coat is placed onto the lashes, a generous amount of that formula gets delivered to the root of the lashes. This is what makes the lashes more and more voluminous with each swipe. The longer bristles, on the other hand, act like a teeny tiny comb, lengthening the lashes and essentially stretching the mascara all the way from the base to the tips.
In conclusion, you can see by my finished photo, that my naked, sleepy and wide-set eyes appear brighter and more youthful, while the lashes appear much longer and fuller. I was very pleased with the Mary Kay Lash Intensity Mascara and would definitely purchase in the future. If you are a mascara fanatic like I am, this one is certainly worth a try.
