“Simon, stay on your toes. Satan has tried his best to separate all of you from me, like chaff from wheat. Simon, I’ve prayed for you in particular that you not give in or give out. When you have come through the time of testing, turn to your companions and give them a fresh start.” Luke 22:31-32 MSG
This morning, I sat watching “Invincible: The Vincent Papale Story”. There was one theme which resonated within me…FAITHLESSNESS. Quick summation, without giving away too much: Papale was a high school football star turned bartender, whose wife left him. One day the Philadelphia Eagles’ new coach decided to hold open tryouts. After being prompted by several people to try out, Papale took a chance that would inevitably change his life. After a series of events in training camp, Papale sat in his hotel room, with his bags packed waiting to be cut. He heard coaches and staff knock on doors, with the same line “Bring your playbook.” He sat there, waiting for it to happen, prepared to be cut, but it didn’t happen.
All too often we prepare ourselves for negative aspects of what “may happen”, but instead we are preparing for failure, preempting success, and processing the pain. So many things have happened in our lives, and those things have caused us to lose heart, courage, lots of time, and our faith.
We cannot allow the deterrents of life to cause us to forget our promise, and most importantly our Promise-keeper. It is imperative that we understand that God will not withhold any good thing from us (Psalm 84:11). Yes, bad things happen. Yes trials and tribulations come. Yes, someone, many people, will hurt you, but I beg of you… “GET YOUR FAITH UP!” It is your faith that will sustain you, and comfort you. It is your faith that will guide you, and prepare you.. It is your faith, and it is time that you grab ahold of it, and all that it has to offer.
“Awake, awake, Put on your strength, O Zion; Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city;” Isaiah 52:1 AMP This verse urges us to get up. Awake (WAKE UP/GET UP) from your depression, your laziness, your lack, your despondency, your hatred, your unforgiveness…whatever it may be. There’s more to life than what you’re accustomed to doing. There’s more to life than what you’ve been experiencing, and there’s so much more to what God has for you. It’s time that you get your faith up, know that God is waiting to bless you, and realize that God and your faith will never fail you.
“Therefore the Lord waits [expectantly] and longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
Blessed (happy, fortunate) are all those who long for Him [since He will never fail them].”
Isaiah 30:18 AMP
