“He asked me, ‘Son of man can these bones live?’ I said, ‘O sovereign lord, you alone know,’ Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!'” Ezekiel 37:3-4
It is during this time of year that we all become introspective and retrospective. We find ways to minimize our successes and maximize our failures. Instead of celebrating all that went right, we find a way to replay and analyze all that went wrong.
There are many things that have happened, but the fact of the matter is that you were able to withstand and overcome. As John Witherspoon said on Friday, “…..you live to fight another day.” The fact that you are fighting often times overshadows the fact that you live to fight another day. As a fighter knows, as long as you’re on your feet there’s another round-another chance at victory. Don’t just give up!
Sometimes we have our lives set on repeat. We get up and go to work, complete our daily duties, go to worship on those specified days, and continue on in the cycle. We do these things, sometimes, begrudgingly, day after day, with minimal results. Sometimes we believe that because we have messed up, fallen, or even turned away from God, that this is all that we are and all that we’re capable of doing. We don’t even try to live.
We are as dry bones, which lie in whatever state that we’re placed, complacent with what is given, and accepting whatever comes our way. God asks Ezekiel, “Can these bones live?” I stop to pose that same question to you. CAN YOU LIVE, or are you content with existing?
Often times we exist because we believe that we have messed up too much, that God doesn’t love us anymore, or that we just aren’t good enough to receive God’s blessings and promises. Instead of believing that your mistakes and regrets pose too much of an obstacle to God, can you believe that He can energize you with new life and purpose?
Can you look beyond the vulture-picked-over dry bones of your missteps, rebellions and outright mess-ups? Will you see that the hope of your life is wrapped up,not in your own power to overcome your inertia and bad habits, but in God’s desire to renew you, to push you to something more?
Sometimes God is just waiting on a demonstration of our faith to resurrect those dead issues in our lives. If there is something that, to which, you wish God would give life-pray, speak life to those situations, and ask the Holy Spirit to come in. The Holy Spirit is the breath of life in living situations.
PROPHESY–SPEAK INTO EXISTENCE those things that you wish for your life, in accordance to the will of God. Speak life, health, wealth, abundance, prosperity in all aspects of your life-spiritually and physically.
